Terms of Service
Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CareerCaddy website and review tool (the "Service"), operated by Caleb and David ("CareerCaddy," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
The Service
CareerCaddy reads your resume or work history, asks you targeted questions about your background and goals, then uses an AI model to generate an analysis, keyword recommendations, a rewritten resume, and, optionally, a cover letter. With a free account you also get a dashboard that keeps your work, suggests your next question, and offers optional extras such as daily check-ins, interview practice, skill follow-ups, and push notifications. The core resume review is free and is intended to stay free. Some optional extras may be unlocked by sharing feedback or by a purchase; see "Fees" below.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service, or have a parent or guardian's permission if you're younger. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement, that the information you submit is either your own or you have the right to submit it, and that it's accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Your Account
Creating an account is optional and free — it lets you save your progress and come back to a finished resume later. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us right away. You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard.
Your Content
You keep all rights to the resume, answers, and other information you submit through the Service ("Your Content"). By submitting it, you give us a limited license to use Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — for example, sending it to our AI provider to generate your review, or storing it so you can retrieve it later. We don't use Your Content to train our own models, sell it, or use it for advertising (see the Privacy Policy for the full detail on how it's handled).
You're responsible for making sure Your Content doesn't violate anyone's rights and doesn't include anything unlawful. Don't submit someone else's private information — another real person's resume, contact details, or personal history — without their permission.
Feedback
If you send us feedback or suggestions — including the feedback you write to unlock a feature — you let us use it freely to improve and promote the Service, without paying you or crediting you, and that permission doesn't end. Please don't put anything in feedback that you consider confidential. This covers what you tell us about the Service, not your resume or other Your Content, which stays yours as described above.
AI-Generated Output
The questions, analysis, rewritten resume, and cover letter the Service produces are generated by an AI model. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or state things about you that aren't accurate — the prompts behind the Service are written to avoid inventing facts or metrics, but we can't guarantee it never happens. You're responsible for reading, fact-checking, and editing anything the Service generates before you rely on it or send it to an employer. The Service is a drafting and feedback tool, not career, legal, or professional advice, and we don't guarantee any particular outcome — including whether you get an interview or a job — from using it.
Acceptable Use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- Submit unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Impersonate another real person, or submit their private information without authorization.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems.
- Scrape, systematically extract data from, or reverse-engineer the Service.
- Use the Service to build a competing product using our prompts, questions, or generated output.
Fees
The core resume review is free today and we intend to keep it that way. Some optional features may be unlocked for free by sharing feedback, or by buying them. If you buy a feature:
- Price and checkout. You'll see the price before you pay. Payment is handled by Stripe on its own checkout page, under Stripe's terms; we never see your card details.
- What you get. Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription that unlocks Pro features for your account. It renews automatically until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime. Cancel from Account → Manage Subscription on your dashboard. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds. Not happy? Contact us and we'll give you a full refund. This doesn't limit any refund rights you have under the law.
- Changes. We may change prices for future purchases; a change never affects something you've already bought.
Our Intellectual Property
The Service itself — its software, design, text, and branding, apart from Your Content — belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms don't transfer any of that to you beyond the limited right to use the Service as intended.
Third-Party Services
The Service depends on third-party infrastructure to run — most notably Anthropic's Claude API to generate your review, our hosting provider to serve the site and store your data, and Stripe to process any purchases (see the Privacy Policy for the full list). We aren't responsible for outages, errors, or issues caused by those third-party systems, though we'll do what we reasonably can to keep the Service working.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of the AI-generated output. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Where the law requires a warranty anyway, it lasts 90 days from your first use of the Service.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CareerCaddy and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, opportunities, or data, arising from your use of the Service — including any job outcome, interview, or offer you don't receive. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (which, for the free tier, is $0). Bringing more than one claim doesn't raise this limit.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the limitations above may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law. We may take over the defense of such a claim, in which case you'll cooperate with us, and you won't settle a claim that affects us without our written consent. We'll make reasonable efforts to tell you promptly about any such claim we learn of.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time, and may request that we delete your account and data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, or for any other reason, with notice where practical. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including Your Content licensing scope for data already processed, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.
Changes
We may update these Terms or modify, add to, or discontinue features of the Service from time to time. If we make a material change to these Terms, we'll update the "last updated" date above and, where practical, note it on the site. If the Service moves to a new web address, your account moves with it and these Terms keep applying. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first — see "Contact us" below — so we can try to resolve it informally before anything more formal. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies there.
California Users
Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California users are entitled to this notice: the Service is provided by Caleb and David, operating as CareerCaddy. To file a complaint about the Service or get more information about using it, contact us as described in "Contact us" below. You can also reach the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by phone at (800) 952-5210. Your privacy rights under California law are described in our Privacy Policy.
Accessibility
We want the Service to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities, and we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. If anything is hard to use, please tell us as described in "Contact us" below and we'll work to fix it.
Miscellaneous
We can send you notices and other communications about the Service electronically — by email to the address on your account, or by a notice on the site — and those count as written notice. If these Terms and the Privacy Policy ever conflict about how your personal information is handled, the Privacy Policy controls.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may assign ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Contact Us
Questions about these Terms? The end-of-review feedback questions are the fastest way to reach us right now; we read every one directly. For anything formal, including complaints or notices, email caleb.darjany [at] gmail [dot] com (written that way to keep spam bots out; swap in the @ and the dot).
